Baqué Molinié
Baqué Molinié was born out of an encounter, with the artistic aim of developing innovative textile research and inventing multiple ways of doing things, according to the seasons, events and collaborations. Laetitia Baqué and Victor Molinié, both graduates of the École Supérieure d’Arts Appliqué Duperré, decided to join forces in 2011. Driven by curiosity and the desire to combine their skills, they have travelled to embroidery workshops in France and India as textile designers.
In 2023, Thierry Kauffmann imagined this unprecedented association between two exceptional craftsmen, Baqué Molinié and Pinton. The adventure began in Victor and Laeticia’s workshops at the Villa du Lavoir artisanal estate. The challenge was to bring together the tufting technique (Aubusson carpet) and haute-couture embroidery. Shortly afterwards, Victor and Laëticia went to the Pinton factory.
Cycle is an invitation to observe a textile composition that reveals the complex aesthetic dimension of nature. In a frame measuring one metre forty by one metre forty, Pinton imagined a tuft of velvet curled in a gradation of greens on which plant borders, arabesques of leaves and interlacing stems and green flowers were fixed, evoking the image of nature’s cycle.
